BACK-UP FAMILY CARE SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY

UCI HAS PARTNERED WITH BRIGHT HORIZONS® TO OFFER THIER HIGH-QUALITY, SUBSIDIZED BACK-UP CARE™ PROGRAM AND ENHANCED FAMILY SUPPORT™ PROGRAM TO ALL UCI AND UCI HEALTH FACULTY, STAFF, RESIDENTS, AND GRADUATE STUDENTS.

BACK-UP CARE

Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™ can be used anytime you need to be at work or school, but your family member needs assistance or support. Take advantage of extra support when uncertain times lead to care breakdowns, closures or restrictions create obstacles at school or at home, or you need an extra hand managing unpredictable days ahead.

Eligibility
All UCI and UCI Health academic appointees, staff, resident physicians, and graduate students.

Program Details

  • Access up to 5 days of subsidized back-up care Nov. 1, 2023 – Dec. 31, 2024
  • Book up to 90 days in advance. Cancellations must be received by 5:00 p.m. 2 business days prior to a reservation to avoid paying a copay or using days
  • Subsidized co-pay costs per use:
    • In-home care for children, adults, and elders – $6/hour (For up to 3 children. Min. 4 hours to max. 10 hours/use)
    • Center-based child care – $15/child/day/use or $25/family/day/use.

Create your care profile now and find care last minute or up to 90 days in advance. Whenever your regular care is unavailable, you have access to high-quality back-up care from Bright Horizons for your loved ones. Be sure to register in advance so you’re ready whenever you need care. The registration process is quick and easy — just follow the three simple steps below.

Step 1: Register

Log in using your UCINetID and password

Or download the mobile app (search ‘back-up care’ in the App Store or Google Play) 
Username: UCI
Password: care4you

Step 2: Complete Your Care Profile
Provide contact information, care recipients, authorized contacts, and care locations

Step 3: Reserve Back-Up Care
Reserve care online, by phone, or via mobile app
Once care is reserved, you will receive a confirmation email

Note: Bright Horizons strongly encourages but does not currently require caregivers in the back-up network to receive the COVID vaccine. For information on the Bright Horizons approach to promoting vaccination see
Bright Horizons FAQS: Vaccinations & Health & Safety.  If you prefer a vaccinated in-home caregiver, you can communicate your preference using the “Special Instructions” on the website or mobile application. You may use the Welcome Call to verify this status with the caregiver directly although caregivers are not required to disclose this information.
