FAMILY CARE SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY

UCI HAS PARTNERED WITH BRIGHT HORIZONS® TO OFFER THIER HIGH-QUALITY, SUBSIDIZED BACK-UP CARE™ PROGRAM AND ADDITIONAL FAMILY SUPPORT™ PROGRAM TO ALL UCI FACULTY, STAFF, RESIDENTS, AND GRADUATE STUDENTS. (EFFECTIVE NOV. 1, 2020 THROUGH OCT. 31, 2021.)

BACK-UP CARE

Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™ can be used anytime you need to be at work or school, but your family member needs assistance or support. When your child’s school is closed, your schedule changes, a sitter cancels, a regular caregiver is unavailable, you are transitioning to work after leave, your adult or elder needs care, or an emergency arises, subsidized back-up care is arranged for you, including:

  • In-home child care and educational support
  • In-home self and elder care
  • Center-based child care

Program Details

  • Access up to 10 days of subsidized back-up care Nov. 1, 2020 – Oct. 31, 2021
  • Subsidized co-pay costs
  • In-home care for children, adults, and elders – $6/hour (up to 3 children. min. 4 hour, max. 10 hours per use)
  • Center-based child care – $15/child/day or $25/family/day
  • NEW - No co-pays for care for March and April 2021

Eligibility
All UCI academic appointees, staff, resident physicians, and graduate students.

ACCESS BACK-UP CARE
Register Now. Book Care When You Need It.

Create your care profile now and find care last minute or up to 30 days in advance. Whenever your regular care is unavailable, you have access to high-quality back-up care from Bright Horizons for your loved ones. Be sure to register in advance so you’re ready whenever you need care. The registration process is quick and easy — just follow the three simple steps below. Questions? Call 877-BH-CARES (242-2737)

Step 1: Register
Visit clients.brighthorizons.com/UCI

Under ‘Family Solutions’, in the ‘Reserve Back-Up Care’ box, click the ‘DETAILS’ button

Or download the mobile app (search ‘back-up care’ in the App Store or Google Play and sign up using the Employer Username: UCI | Employer Password: care4you)

Click ‘Sign Up’ and create your personal profile. Valid UCI employee* or student ID number is required. (*UCI employee number can be located in UCPATH)

Step 2: Complete Your Care Profile
Provide contact information, care recipients, authorized contacts, and care locations

Step 3: Reserve Back-Up Care
Reserve care online, by phone, or via mobile app
Once care is reserved, you will receive a confirmation email

ADDITIONAL FAMILY SUPPORTS

With the Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™ Program, you also have access to the Additional Family Supports™ program, with free access to Sittercity’s comprehensive database of self-pay services to find nannies and sitters, pet care, and housekeeping help. Additionally, you can find valuable elder care resources through Years Ahead. You can also get discounts on tutoring, test prep, and enrichment classes as well as preferred enrollment for full-time child care at Bright Horizons centers and tuition discounts at partner centers and access discounts on a local, high-touch placement service of trained, screened nannies.

Plus, all of the academic supports offered through Bright Horizons have online options available to accommodate this unusual school year. Through the Sittercity platform, you can also find virtual sitters and caregivers who are badged as “ready to teach” for small group Learning Pods.

Access to Additional Family Supports™ are included, but additional membership activation and registration is required to use many of the resources.

COVID-19 Policy - Learn about Bright Horizons’ Back-Up Care™ COVID-19 policy, including health screenings, exclusion criteria and mask/face coverings

Out-of-Network Reimbursement - If the Back-Up Care™ Program is unable to provide you with the care it typically covers, you may be offered out-of-network reimbursement of $100 per day to offset the cost of care you source on your own or through Sittercity. Each reimbursement day counts as a back-up care day. For more details about out-of-network reimbursement, please call 877-BH-Cares (877-242-2737).
